With direct marketing you are delivering your message direct to them. Hence the name.

The sound of your own name is very important if not the most important sound a person hears. So getting a letter, email or phone call where someone addresses your prospect personally is a very effective marketing tool.

With direct marketing it is relatively easy to track results and the return on investment and therefore as part of a wider marketing strategy or on its own it is an important tool to most businesses today.
